Wiest Family from the Hills

Welcome to the Wiest Family Blog Site. We decided to create this site (totally ripping off our daughter-in-law’s idea) so family and friends can get an up to date status on the progress of the building of the Wiest Family Ranch, better known to some as Tatonka Meadows. For those of you who don't know what tatonka means (and who haven’t seen the movie “Dances With Wolves”), tatonka is a Lakota Sioux word for "Buffalo".

We have purchased 5.1 tree studded acres in Auburn, California and we are transforming this little piece of heaven into a family ranch, (yeah, we know it’s a small ranch, but Ray insists it IS a ranch). Ray and Brian have pulled out over 70 trees so far with Ray’s new toy, a Kubota L3430 with a back-hoe attachment. We also have a blade scraper, brush hog, tiller, and a recent purchase of a chipper for attachments. It's quite the work horse, and we couldn't have acomplished what we have so far with out it.

We are starting from scratch which you will see as you view the pictures from start to finish. Please keep checking back on our blog for updated pictures and videos of our progress. We have a whole lot of work to go before this project is done.

Once the house is all done - we expect all of you to visit and spend some time at the Wiest Family Ranch, (Tatonka Meadows). And yes, someday you may see a few ‘buffler roaming our ranch…with a couple of fine trail horses thrown in for good measure.
